Kathleen Alonso was ten years old when her mother set her in front of a microfilm machine, gave her a name and date and told her to find an obituary. She has been researching ever since. She graduated from Doane College in Crete Nebraska with a degree in history and religious studies, and she received a Master’s degree in history from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, which culminated in a thesis on the Air Mail Service in Nebraska.
I have recently discovered your blog, and am enjoying sifting through and reading it; after having read your article in Nebraska History magazine.
Are you participating this coming week in the 100th anniversary flight that will retrace the original September 1920 flight (except where the original airports are not available)? There will be landings (and takeoffs) at Omaha and North Platte, as part of this relay.
Information is available at http://www.airmail100.com/. The Millard airport will serve as the Omaha stop.
